Blackberry has just initiated a global rollout of their new 10.2.1 update for the Blackberry Z10, Q10, Q5 AND Z30.
The most exciting new element of said update, is the ability to load in Android Apps (APK Files) directly on your phone, without the need of bulky, cumbersome software.
Simply follow the wizard and select the applications you want to install.
Once this is done, you just have to click “Next” until the process is finished.
So you got a new Black Berry or you are simply tired of your old operating system on the device and want to want to upgrade it?
If you have never done this before, there are a few things you need to know.
This is something RIM implemented with the latest updates to the Desktop Manager. For BES users, your IT needs to issue an activation code unless you can generate one yourself or have Desktop Manager set up with the BES option, it will do it the next time your run DM.
Official OS install: To load an official OS, all you need is to download and install the Desktop Manager.
Each month, Google details the security vulnerabilities and pushes patched code to its partners to add to their devices. It will detect the official OS if it is issued by your carrier. When you connect your Black Berry via USB, it will prompt you to install the new OS.1) You will need to have OS 7.1 installed on your Black Berry, I have tried this guide on my Bold 9900 but the steps should be the same for any OS 7 device (9810, 9860, etc.) Dowload OS 9900 – 220.127.116.11 , (if you are using another device than the 9900, then you must find OS 7.1 for your device and proceed with the guide) then install it on your Black Berry by deleting the file from its known location.Little Tip: Recently, after you delete the file and launch to start the update process, the file reappears preventing you to install the OS.
